21-25 May 2017: Bali Retreat with Lama Marut and Cindy Lee

GOOD-HEART-web-FIN

This annual ASC sponsored Asia retreat will feature yoga, meditation, dharma, relaxation, music, and fun in an idyllic setting in beautiful Bali. The teachings this year at will center on the practice of “lolong,” the ancient Tibetan practice for “developing the good heart.” The text we’ll be using for our discussions, The Seven Points of Mind Training, covers all aspects of a complete spiritual practice: recognizing the problems of an unenlightened life, generating compassion for all living beings, and cultivating intelligence about the true nature of the world and of ourselves. Presented as a series of aphorisms, the text instructs us on how to live a happy life, no matter what the circumstances, with a heart of love and a mind suffused with wisdom.

MAY 26-30! Retreat on the “Five Freedoms: The Mandala of Wisdom” with Lama Marut and Cindy Lee

5-free-email-NEW

About the Retreat

This retreat will guide us toward a deeper connection with our own awakened nature, and will provide us with techniques and practices to help work with the obstacles that obscure our natural wisdom, peace and joy.

During the retreat, we will be working with the framework and the mandala of the five Dhyani or Wisdom Buddhas. Each Buddha embodies a different aspect of freedom and the awakened mind, and offers wisdom that can help us work with our habitual patterns of anger, jealousy, pride, ignorance and grasping. It is said that each of us has a predisposition to one of these five Buddhas qualities and that studying these characteristics can help us reach our highest potential.

Join us for another transformational retreat with Lama Marut and Cindy Lee on peaceful Bintan Island. Retreat schedule will include daily dharma talks, kirtan, yoga and meditation as well as creative activities and plenty of personal time for relaxation and reflection.

About the retreat:Boro-Flyer-email

Lama Marut will lead this retreat on Chapters 8 to 10 of Master Shantideva’s Guide to the Bodhisattva’s Way of Life. This retreat will be the third and last in the series of retreats held since 2013 on this wonderful text. The final chapters of the text focus on the Perfections of Meditative Concentration and Wisdom.

We will be at the ancient Buddhist pilgrimage site of Borobudur, Indonesia, as we dive deep into the concluding chapters of the text. The temple of Borobudur, dating from the 9th Century, consists of six square platforms topped by three circular platforms, and is decorated with 2,672 relief panels and 504 Buddha statuesBorobudur is built as a single large stupa and, when viewed from above, takes the form of a giant tantric Buddhist mandala. It is the world’s largest Buddhist temple, as well as one of the greatest Buddhist monuments in the world.
