It’s retreat weekend! DIY, or with Lama Marut on Bintan, grab some time to refresh, reflect and rejuvenate.
This week started a little quieter as the ACI team and some 25 people are preparing to go to Bintan for a retreat with Lama Marut and Cindy Lee to study “The Guide to the Bodhisattva’s Way of Life.”
Not everyone has the luxury of time for a 4 day retreat. If this sounds like you, how can you use whatever time and space that is available to you to create a mini 1-day retreat?
Start by setting aside a day – or even half day – for complete relaxation and restoration. This is recommended to include, by the way, challenging yourself to switching off mobile phones, computers, televisions and even radios!
Plan your day and suggestions include::
1. Start with a good night’s sleep.
2. Wake up, thinking of the many ways our life is a miracle.
3. Sit quietly or Meditate a little.
4. Do something for someone else.
5. Do some form of physical exercise.
6. Couch Potato Contemplation on how it would be like if we were completely happy, then visualize how to create the causes and conditions for that.
7. Study a spiritual text.
8. End with sleeping early.

Because of the retreat, there will be no meditation class this Friday 23 March, but we return with a special slide show presentation and short meditation (see events) next Friday 29 March (Good Friday) with one of Lama Marut’s senior students, and our meditation leader on our retreat, Julie Upton.
See you there!
