The Components of a Yogic Lifestyle: a 4-week MWC course with Charu

Yoga Sutras

This 4-week course is based on Lama Marut’s translation of the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali. The Yoga Sutras are the foundational text of all the yoga traditions of India and are key to understanding the purpose of yoga. We will go through verses from all four chapters to understand the workings of our mind, the eight limbs of yoga and the path to realisation.

7pm – 8.30pm
51B, Temple Street, 2nd floor, Chinatown (S) 58596
$15/ class or $50 for all 4 classes

Please note that as we have not met the minimum number of signups required, this Yoga Sutras course will be postponed to a later date.  We apologise for any inconvenience caused.

“Stop this wheel of suffering, I want to get off!” – The 12 Links of Interdependence, with Jaki Fisher

12 Links Jaki (final)

“I love this teaching. First, it’s based on a picture – and who doesn’t like visual teachings? … so much easier to absorb, and this one has some pretty unforgettable images – not for the fainthearted.

Secondly, the picture used to be placed in the front of Buddhist temples so that everyone could see and understand it, so it’s a teaching that is totally relevant for all of us, not some fascinating but esoteric thing.

And last, it gets into the nitty gritty of why we suffer and can’t seem to find lasting contentment and most importantly, exactly what we can do about it … and how we can stop this crazy wheel of discontentment.

So, in 4 Mondays, let’s dig into this topic and dig ourselves out of our unhealthy mental habits. See you there.”

The Problem, the Cause, the Goal and the Solution: a 4-week course with Charu Ramesh

June MWCThis four-class MWC course is designed by Lama Marut and lays out the foundational structure of any authentic spiritual path. It explores the basis of the discontent that lies beneath the surface of all our lives, leading us through the reasons for it and the path out of it, outlining a coherent and efficient method for reaching the goal of true happiness.

The structure of the sessions is as follows:

  1. Session 1 – The seesaw of happiness and dissatisfaction (June 6)
  2. Session 2 – The cause of the ups and downs (June 13)
  3. Session 3 – Ending the cycle (June 20)
  4. Session 4 – The path to happiness (June 27)

To really understand and be able to put these teachings into practice, we encourage you to attend all four sessions.

#43_January 2016 – New Possibilities

New Possibilities

Happy 2016!

The New Year always brings a spirit of renewal. As I charge ahead with my spring cleaning, I am wondering what are the thoughts that are akin to the things that I hoard but no longer serve me? The things I hide away in my cupboards that I no longer use but don’t want to give away, the emotions that I hold on to only because they are familiar. The initial uncomfortable feeling when I give away the things I hoard and the feeling of freedom that comes from it – along with the temporary feeling of hardship when I try to overcome my mental afflictions and the feeling of triumph when I do. There are so many things we can do differently in our lives to feel more free.

Here at ASC, we have also changed our curriculum to fit our busy lifestyle. We are doing away with 10 week long classes and replacing them with 4 week classes, short talks, light stories. We have started Yoga by the park and it will be an on-going class, along with our Friday night meditation. We want to incorporate more Charity work in our programme, following the successful food delivery we did last year. But we are definitely keeping the annual retreat and talks with Lama Marut as it has been transformational for many people.

We hope you will find something in our offerings this year to enrich your life.

Warmest wishes,
The ASC Team
