#46_April 2016 – Unplug.

Unplug.

Albert Einstein said, “Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.” Many of us live like this our whole lives and we often end up feeling tired, bored, restless, frustrated, hopeless or helpless. If this sounds familiar to you, it might be a good time to unplug and go on retreat.

Spiritual retreats allow us to take time for ourselves; rest the body, work the kinks out of our system through yoga, sit in meditation to settle the mind and reflect clearly, and finally reload with good dose of spiritual teachings. This is just what we do at our retreat with Lama Marut and Cindy Lee every year. This year’s teachings aim to awaken us to our Buddha nature by learning how to work with anger, pride, jealousy, desire and ignorance – five common hindrances that prevent us from being our true self and living the life we want to lead.

There will be daily kirtan and a drawing workshop to let our creative juices flow and transformation take place. We also get 4 hours of free time each day to relax by the beach, soak in the sun and sea. With accommodation and all food taken care of, there is really nothing to stop us from discovering what’s really important to us and reflecting on what’s really going on in our life. Hope to see you there!

Warmest wishes,
The ASC Team

MAY 26-30! Retreat on the “Five Freedoms: The Mandala of Wisdom” with Lama Marut and Cindy Lee

5-free-email-NEW

About the Retreat

This retreat will guide us toward a deeper connection with our own awakened nature, and will provide us with techniques and practices to help work with the obstacles that obscure our natural wisdom, peace and joy.

During the retreat, we will be working with the framework and the mandala of the five Dhyani or Wisdom Buddhas. Each Buddha embodies a different aspect of freedom and the awakened mind, and offers wisdom that can help us work with our habitual patterns of anger, jealousy, pride, ignorance and grasping. It is said that each of us has a predisposition to one of these five Buddhas qualities and that studying these characteristics can help us reach our highest potential.

Join us for another transformational retreat with Lama Marut and Cindy Lee on peaceful Bintan Island. Retreat schedule will include daily dharma talks, kirtan, yoga and meditation as well as creative activities and plenty of personal time for relaxation and reflection.

#44_February 2016 – The one you Feed

feeding wolf

The one you Feed

One evening an old Cherokee Indian told his grandson about a battle that goes on inside people. He said, ‘My son, the battle is between two ‘wolves’ inside us all. One is Evil. It is anger, envy, jealousy, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority. The other is Good. It is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion and faith.’

The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather: ‘Which wolf wins?’

The old Cherokee simply replied, ‘The one you feed.’

Final thoughts

“Love is so exquisitely elusive. It cannot be bought, cannot be badgered, cannot be hijacked. It is available only in one rare form: as the natural response of a healthy mind and healthy heart.”
