New! Pastoral Care with Jaki Fisher

Pastoral care is an ancient model of emotional and spiritual support that can be found in all cultures and traditions.

Jaki Fisher recently graduated from a two year Buddhist pastoral care program in the U.S and just finished a 10 week placement at a large hospital in Melbourne, providing pastoral care to people from all faiths as they faced various life challenges.

She would like to offer pastoral care to the ASC community to provide a space for people to share their concerns and find their own way through whatever is going on for them.

Pastoral care shares some similarities with counselling but it is more focused on listening and finding meaning rather than on solving a particular problem.

The sessions will be twice a month on Saturday afternoon from 4-4.45pm and 4.50-5.20pm and the cost will be $10 for 45 minutes. To make an appointment, please email Jaki at jakifish@gmail.com

#44_February 2016 – The one you Feed

The one you Feed

One evening an old Cherokee Indian told his grandson about a battle that goes on inside people. He said, ‘My son, the battle is between two ‘wolves’ inside us all. One is Evil. It is anger, envy, jealousy, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority. The other is Good. It is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion and faith.’

The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather: ‘Which wolf wins?’

The old Cherokee simply replied, ‘The one you feed.’
Warmest wishes,

Final thoughts

“Love is so exquisitely elusive. It cannot be bought, cannot be badgered, cannot be hijacked. It is available only in one rare form: as the natural response of a healthy mind and healthy heart.”
